The Mets are floundering around the NL East with a 34-42 record, only Philadelphia is a larger train wreck (which is good since we gave you u73½ wins on the MLB preview podcast with Jeff Passan).
Syndergaard, Harvey, Matz, Familia, and Wheeler have all spent time on the DL. With New York out of the race before the calendar flips to July there’s one question looming; will the Tim Tebow circus make a stop in The Big Apple?
Recently, Tebow and his .220 batting average and .311 on base percentage in low A ball was promoted to the New York Mets’ advanced Class A affiliate in Port St. Lucie. Despite ONE home run in his last 61 games, hitting .131 against southpaws and .161 with runners in scoring position, Tim’s expected to be the St. Lucie Mets everyday left fielder and hit 8th in the lineup.

That got us to thinking…
1 + 1 = 2. Struggling Mets + Tebow Freak Show = Asses in seats and less focus on an underachieving season.
So with creative help from us, BetOnline.AG set the odds on Tebow having a Major League plate appearance in 2017. No surprise, he’s a major underdog to do so. In fact, current pricing depicts only a 10.4% chance Tim digs his cleats into a MLB batters box and takes a few hacks this season.

Will @TimTebow have a MLB plate appearance in 2017?

Only two parties actually want to see this transpire: Sports networks and Tebow fan boys. For Tim’s sake, none of us want to watch him swing a bat against the best pitchers in the world. After seeing a rusty Max Scherzer mow him down on three pitches my inner Gordon Bombay says; “Keep swingin’, Tim. Maybe you’ll give ’em a cold.”
